Job Summary:

The Department of Public Affairs and Planning ( PAPL ) in the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs ( CAPPA ) at the University of Texas at Arlington ( UTA ) invites applications for a full-time 9-month, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice to begin Fall 2025.

We seek a colleague who represents UTA's populations with a teaching and research focus in one or more of the following areas: environmental planning, land use planning, historic preservation, and/or community development. Potential or experience in mentoring doctoral students is essential. The successful candidate should have a research agenda contributing to the furtherance of UTA's Strategic Plan ().

Essential Duties:

The candidate should contribute to the core curriculum and teach courses in the new bachelor's degree. Teaching is predominantly at the undergraduate level but may include some MCRP classes. The candidate should show a strong potential for a successful independent academic career by demonstrating the ability to teach and mentor students, develop collaborations with community partners, serve on departmental, college, and university committees, and drive the long-term success of the bachelor's degree in planning.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have a master's degree in planning and significant experience in city and regional planning. The successful candidate must demonstrate potential to excel in teaching and develop collaborations with community partners. Candidates should have a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration at departmental, college and university levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching interests related to interdisciplinary work would be a strong asset. Applicants with AICP certification is strongly preferred. Experience and interest in working with faculty on multidisciplinary research and teaching is valued, especially in other college areas such public administration, public policy, urban design, and architecture.
