**Position: Food Buyer**
**Location:** Great Neck, NY
**Salary:** $80K - $90K with Bonus and Benefits
**Work Schedule:** Onsite, 5 Days a Week
Are you passionate about food procurement and supply chain management? We are looking for a dedicated Food Buyer to join our team! In this role, you will play a critical part in the successful procurement and timely delivery of high-quality products for our assigned lines. You will closely collaborate with the Senior Director of Purchasing and fellow Senior Buyers to meet the company's objectives.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Product Ordering:** Manage product orders aligned with forecasted demand to ensure availability and consistency.
- **Cost Management:** Strive to obtain the best possible product costs, quality, and service, keeping our policies and procedures in mind.
- **Inventory Goals:** Aim to achieve inventory turn goals while maintaining exceptional service levels and minimizing distress inventory.
- **Team Collaboration:** Interface with various departments and teams to ensure seamless communication and operations. Build and nurture strong relationships with vendors, store operations, and distribution center personnel.
- **Cost Assessment:** Review acquisition costs to ensure competitive pricing while considering factors such as quality and urgency.
- **Inventory Analysis:** Analyze current inventory, market conditions, and promotional effects to forecast order quantities, providing informed recommendations to the merchandising team.
- **Post-Promotion Analysis:** Conduct reviews to evaluate promotional success and identify solutions for any challenges encountered.
- **Issue Resolution:** Address and resolve inventory issues at the store level that may arise from allocations or order discrepancies.
- **Reporting:** Monitor and evaluate daily and weekly performance reports related to costs, service levels, inventory turns, and more, making adjustments as necessary.
- **Store Visits:** Occasionally visit stores to assess program effectiveness and gain feedback.
- **Accounts Payable Management:** Oversee variance processes for distribution-sourced items to ensure accurate invoicing.
- **Billing Discrepancies:** Research and resolve store billing inquiries by addressing discrepancies and processing credits as needed.
- **Record Keeping:** Maintain all relevant department files and records accurately.
- **Product Flow Coordination:** Work closely with Warehouse Operations to ensure effective product movement through the facility.
- **Remote Access:** Utilize remote access tools for the buying system when needed.
**Qualifications:**
- A minimum of 2 years of purchasing or vendor management experience in the food industry or retail, ideally in grocery, candy, or beverages.
- Experience in marketing/logistics is a plus, as is a strong understanding of store operations and merchandising practices.
- Knowledge of grocery procurement, logistics, inventory management, marketing, accounting, and financial management is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, along with the ability to make fact-based decisions.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to foster effective internal and external business relationships.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Ability to maintain focus and productivity, even amidst frequent interruptions.
